Lakshman, the crew’s treasurer, mentioned how competitive he was, suggesting that the Prince had prepared well for the race, understanding that he was part of the engine room—the vital part of the boat.

As the race concluded, Prince William joyfully exclaimed, “Oh, we won by miles!” His enthusiasm was infectious, and Bosher noted how the Prince found the activity to be a refreshing break from his usual routine during official visits.
