Mystery Surrounds Missing Singaporean Man in Johor Bahru
A Singaporean man has gone missing after a trip to Johor Bahru, leaving his friends and family deeply concerned. Mardave Parades Manuel, 29, was last heard from on Tuesday, May 28, after he crossed the border into Malaysia around 2:55 PM. His friend, Zhong, shared that Manuel, originally from the Philippines, had gone to sell cryptocurrency valued at approximately RM240,000 (S$68,900).
Last Known Movements
Manuel sent a text to his fiancée around 4 PM but became uncontactable shortly after. His family tried reaching out to him at 4:30 PM, but their calls went unanswered. The last known record of his movements shows he took a Grab ride from his Bukit Merah home to Bugis Bus Terminal at Queen Street. Concerned for his safety, Manuel’s brother has filed a police report both in Singapore and Johor Bahru, which has been confirmed by local authorities.
Family’s Worry and Efforts to Find Him
Zhong expressed that they are uncertain about the details of Manuel’s cryptocurrency transaction, making it challenging to figure out where to start looking in JB. She described him as a responsible person who usually keeps in touch, especially with his family and fiancée. “He always updates us on his plans,” she said, adding that Manuel is set to marry in just seven months.
His fiancée, who chose to remain anonymous, shared that they had planned to have dinner together on the day he went missing. “He last texted me at 3:45 PM, and when I replied two hours later, my message didn’t go through,” she recounted. The couple, who met in university and participated in the same co-curricular activities at Singapore Polytechnic over a decade ago, were also looking forward to selecting a BTO flat next month.
Reaching Out for Help
The couple’s friends and family are extremely worried and are doing everything they can to locate him. Zhong has even contacted Malaysian media for assistance, with her plea featured in the Chinese publication, China Press.
