Shocking Taxi Collision on Keppel Road: What Happened?
On Saturday, September 10, at around 8:10 AM, drivers on Keppel Road and Cantonment Link were greeted by a startling scene. A blue ComfortDelGro taxi had run a red light at the intersection, colliding with a white Mercedes that was stationary on the opposite side. Eyewitness photos captured the moment, leaving many in disbelief.
Tammy Tan, ComfortDelGro’s Group Chief Branding Officer, clarified that while there were reports of the taxi hitting pedestrians, thankfully, no one was injured. In response to a question from AsiaOne, Tan explained that the taxi was moving straight with a green light when it was struck by another vehicle making a left turn. After the crash, the taxi managed to mount the curb and reach the traffic light.
The police reported that both drivers—a 55-year-old from the Mercedes and a 50-year-old taxi driver—were conscious when they were taken to the hospital. The taxi driver suffered minor injuries to his leg and chest, while the investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
