Shocking Incident: Car Drives into Condo Pool
A tragic incident has left a family seeking answers after a Gojek driver accidentally drove into a condominium pool. The ride-hailing company offered the family a $40 voucher, but they are looking for more than just compensation—they want clarity on what happened.
Family’s Search for Answers
In a heartfelt interview, the granddaughter of the elderly woman involved expressed her desire to understand the full story behind the incident. She shared that her family met with Gojek representatives to discuss the situation. “We just want to know what really happened,” she said.
According to reports from AsiaOne, a 79-year-old passenger named Vasanta mentioned that the driver appeared older than he was. She believes the driver may have lost his way due to heavy rain, which made it difficult to see the road clearly.
Eyewitness Accounts and Social Media Buzz
Eyewitnesses quickly took to social media to share photos and videos of the incident. One resident, Charlie Tan Liang Yu, posted a 17-second clip on TikTok, jokingly calling it “A new definition of carpooling.”
Tan recounted that the incident occurred around 9 p.m. while it was raining. He had opened his window for some fresh air when he noticed the commotion. Tan explained that there was a pedestrian path leading to the pool, which the passenger had instructed the driver to take. However, a security guard had warned the driver that cars were not allowed in that area.
In an attempt to turn around, the driver accidentally drove onto the grass and pressed the gas pedal, resulting in the car ending up partially submerged in the pool. A tow truck arrived at 12:01 AM to assist.
Family’s Response to Gojek’s Offer
The family has since rejected Gojek’s $40 voucher, stating that it does not address their concerns. They are eager to piece together the details of the incident and hope Gojek can provide a comprehensive account.
This situation highlights the family’s distress over the lack of information. They believe that Gojek should offer more transparency regarding the events leading up to the accident. One possible step forward could be for Gojek to share relevant details or for the family to seek out other witnesses or CCTV footage to clarify the sequence of events.
In a close-knit community like Singapore, such incidents resonate deeply, and it’s crucial for companies to communicate openly with affected families.
