Durian Frenzy: Bishan Stall Sells 200kg of Mao Shan Wang in Just 60 Minutes – Prices as Low as $8!

Durian Season is Here: Grab Your Mao Shan Wang at Great Prices!

Get ready, durian lovers! The much-anticipated durian season has kicked off, and queues are forming at stalls across Singapore. Just last Thursday, a stall in Bishan launched an exciting promotion, offering premium Mao Shan Wang (Musang King) durians for as low as $8 per kilogram. Within just one hour, about 200kg of these delicious fruits were snapped up, as reported on June 21.

What to Expect This Durian Season

The durian season typically runs from June to September, bringing an abundance of this beloved fruit at more wallet-friendly prices. Many sellers take this opportunity to offer enticing deals to attract customers. One popular spot this year is Wangshengli95, located at Block 513 Bishan Street 13. They kicked off their promotion on Wednesday, selling B-grade Mao Shan Wang for $8 and A-grade for $12 per kilogram.

According to a report by The Straits Times, Malaysia’s top-grade Musang King was priced between RM20 and RM30 per kilogram in 2023, significantly lower than last year’s RM50 to RM70 range.

Early Birds Get the Durian!

Wangshengli95’s promotion began at 6:30 PM, but eager customers were already lining up 15 minutes prior. Stall owner Chen Ruixiang noted, “Today is the second day of the promotion. We sold out yesterday, and customers arrived 30 minutes early today. Some are regulars, while others came because of my Facebook post.” Chen, 38, is confident that his prices are among the best in Singapore. He plans to keep offering 200kg of durians daily and hopes to continue this promotion until July, provided the supply holds up.

This year’s durian harvest from Malaysia is expected to be plentiful, thanks to the warm weather the country experienced late last year.
