One concerned resident shared that the man’s actions are creating a mess, with bird droppings dirtying cars parked below. A video captured by this resident showed around 20 pigeons flocking outside the man’s window. Another resident, living a floor above, was seen waving a rag to shoo the birds away. Eventually, the man opened his window to let the pigeons in, seemingly unfazed by the commotion.

It appears that the pigeons have become regulars at his flat. A reporter from Shin Min, who visited the scene, noticed the window panes were covered in droppings. One female resident mentioned that she often sees the pigeons outside her window around 8 am but was unaware of her neighbour’s feeding habits. She expressed frustration at having to chase the birds away just to dry her laundry.

Community Awareness and Responsibility

While many residents are aware of the pigeon issue, they didn’t know who was behind it. Attempts to reach the man for comment were unsuccessful. Fortunately, NParks, in collaboration with Ang Mo Kio Town Council, is stepping in to manage the situation. Choon Beng, the group director of wildlife management, confirmed that they are monitoring the feeding activities at Block 559.

NParks has highlighted the hygiene concerns associated with feeding pigeons and has urged the public not to do so. Under the Wildlife Act, feeding wild animals is illegal, with fines reaching up to $5,000 for first-time offenders and up to $10,000 for repeat offenders. NParks is actively enforcing these regulations through surveillance and CCTV cameras at known feeding spots.
