Tragic Loss: A Reminder for Parents to Seek Medical Help After Falls
An 11-year-old girl, Nureen Fateha Md Zulhaidi, tragically lost her life after a fall while playing at home. This heartbreaking incident took place on March 5, as reported by local news. Nureen, the eldest of three siblings and a student at Endeavour Primary School, was playing with her sibling in their Admiralty home when she tripped on the carpet and fell head-first.
A Mother’s Heartbreak
Nureen’s mother, Norsahida Mohamed Amin, 36, returned home from work to find her daughter complaining of a headache. Despite giving Nureen painkillers, she vomited and chose to rest instead of seeing a doctor. That evening, Nureen’s condition worsened; she began having trouble breathing and was foaming at the mouth. Norsahida and her husband, Md Zulhaidi Hassan, immediately called for an ambulance, which rushed Nureen to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.
Sadly, the doctor later revealed that Nureen had suffered “80 percent internal bleeding,” and she passed away the next day, on March 6. Norsahida, devastated by the loss, urged parents: “If your children fall at home, don’t hesitate. Seek medical attention promptly.”
Remembering Nureen
Norsahida fondly remembers her daughter as a mature and caring child. She recalled a touching moment in Johor Bahru when Nureen helped reunite a lost child with his parents. Since her daughter’s passing, Norsahida has taken to sharing TikTok videos in Nureen’s memory. In one poignant video posted on April 2, she showcased a heartfelt letter written by Nureen in 2021, expressing her love and gratitude towards her mother.
The Importance of Immediate Medical Attention
This tragic incident serves as a crucial reminder for parents about the importance of seeking immediate medical attention for children after a fall. It’s vital to raise awareness among parents to prioritize their children’s health and safety.
How Can Parents Be Better Informed?
To effectively raise awareness, educational campaigns can provide clear guidelines on when immediate medical attention is necessary after a fall. These campaigns can utilize various channels, such as social media, parenting websites, and community workshops. Collaborating with healthcare professionals to create informative materials can also empower parents to make informed decisions quickly.
