Young Student Overcomes Tragedy to Shine in PSLE
Kingsley Bai, a 12-year-old from St Andrews Primary School, has shown incredible resilience after facing a heartbreaking loss. His father, a dedicated real estate agent, tragically passed away in June due to a brain aneurysm while on a business trip in Bangkok. Despite the emotional challenges, Kingsley turned his grief into motivation, achieving impressive results in his Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE).
A Heartfelt Tribute
Reflecting on his cherished memories with his father, Kingsley shared, “We had many special moments together.” Even though his father was often busy with work, he always made time to shoot some hoops with Kingsley and his friends. This determination to make his father proud fueled Kingsley’s hard work, and his efforts have paid off—he is now set to enter his preferred secondary school, St Andrew’s Secondary School.
Support from Family
Kingsley’s mother expressed deep gratitude for the support they have received during this tough time. She highlighted how Kingsley’s uncle, despite his hectic schedule, dedicates three to four days a week to tutor him. He also lifts Kingsley’s spirits by surprising him with books and chocolates, providing much-needed encouragement.
PSLE Results Overview
In a recent announcement from the Ministry of Education (MOE), it was revealed that 98.4% of the 38,088 Primary 6 students who sat for the PSLE this year are eligible to progress to secondary school. Students will be assigned to various secondary schools based on their Achievement Level scores in each subject. Notably, around 64% of these students will have the chance to study at least one subject at a higher level.
For those who did not qualify for secondary school admission, the MOE suggests considering a re-attempt of the PSLE next year. Alternatively, schools like Assumption Pathway School and NorthLight School offer tailored programs that focus on experiential and hands-on learning, which may suit different learning styles. To apply, students will need a recommendation from their principal.
