GrabFood Order Gone Wrong: A Hilarious Mix-Up at Ice Edge Cafe
Imagine this: you’re all set for a delicious dinner, only to find your favourite café has closed its doors. That’s exactly what happened to Charmaine Sim, who was left both amused and frustrated after her GrabFood order was accepted from a café that had been shut since September 6.
On Tuesday, September 13, Charmaine shared her experience on TikTok, revealing that she had ordered three pasta dishes and pork ribs from Ice Edge Cafe. After a quick 15-minute ride on her brother’s motorbike, she arrived only to discover the café was closed. “I was just upset that my time and effort were wasted,” she said, adding that she felt a bit ‘lonely’ without her meal.
Fortunately, she wasn’t starving, but the situation definitely had its comedic moments. As she was at home munching on something else, she heard a loud crash outside. Rushing out, she found a car had collided with a tree! “It’s like unfortunate things always happen to me,” she joked, but her family decided to laugh it off. They quickly ordered dinner from another nearby restaurant instead.
After the mix-up, Charmaine reached out to Grab for help but only heard back two days later. She noted that Grab usually responds quickly and offers coupons for any inconvenience, but this time was different.
Interestingly, AsiaOne checked and found Ice Edge Cafe still listed on GrabFood, despite its closure. When they contacted Grab for a comment, a spokesperson said, “We are looking into the matter.”
Sadly, Ice Edge Cafe had announced its closure a month prior after serving gelatos for over 13 years, citing profitability issues. For fans of the café, this news is definitely disappointing.
So, the next time you place a GrabFood order, make sure to double-check if your favourite spot is still open!
