“I don’t dare go outside and I’m still shaking”: Jewel Changi Airport shop manager is attacked by an unknown woman

Shocking Incident at Jewel: Acid Attack at Sauce Legend

Imagine enjoying a day out at Jewel Changi Airport, only to witness a chaotic scene unfold right before your eyes. That's exactly what happened when a woman stormed into Sauce Legend, wreaking havoc and leaving the staff in shock.

On Saturday, August 27th, Jenny Lee, the manager, found herself in the middle of an unprovoked acid attack. She described the terrifying moment when the woman barged in, knocking over tables and smashing items. “I was scared,” Lee recalled, “especially as she approached me.”

As Lee tried to intervene, the situation escalated. The woman, believed to be in her 60s and around 160cm tall, not only attacked Lee but also pulled her hair and scratched her. “I was crying and screaming for help,” she said, still shaken by the incident.

Interestingly, this wasn’t the first time the woman had visited the shop. “She would come in, say a few words, and leave,” Lee explained, highlighting how confusing this sudden aggression was.

Ken Koh, co-owner of Sauce Legend, shared that Jewel staff attempted to chase the woman, but she managed to escape to Terminal 3. “I can’t tell if this was a deliberate act or if she’s struggling with mental health issues,” Koh pondered.

The aftermath of the attack has taken a toll on Lee. She mentioned having trouble sleeping and experiencing nightmares about the incident, which is particularly distressing given that it happened in broad daylight in a busy mall.

This unfortunate event raises an important question: why should such actions be met with consequences? Simply put, the woman’s behaviour was criminal, and it’s crucial for her to be held accountable for her actions.

Let’s hope that justice is served, and that incidents like these remind us of the importance of safety in our community.
