Singapore Army Takes Action Against Biker in PIE Incident Claiming to be Military Policeman: What Really Happened?

Road Rage Incident Sparks Investigation: What Happened?

A recent incident on the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) has caught the attention of many Singaporeans. It all started when a motorcyclist became visibly upset after a driver changed lanes in front of him. This led to a heated confrontation, with both vehicles pulling over to the side of the road.

What Went Down?

The driver’s dashcam captured the exchange, revealing a dramatic scene. The motorcyclist, who claimed to be a military policeman, threatened to impound the car. However, this bold claim has backfired, as the Singapore Army has since filed a police report against him.

In a statement to the media on April 4, a spokesperson from the Ministry of Defence (Mindef) confirmed, “The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) is aware of the situation, and the Singapore Army has made a police report.” They clarified that the individual involved is not a regular serviceman or part of the SAF Military Police Command and was off-duty at the time of the incident. Due to ongoing investigations, further comments were not provided.

The Dashcam Footage

The incident took place on the evening of March 28 and was later shared in the Facebook group SG Road Vigilante. In the footage, the driver switches to the rightmost lane in front of the motorcyclist, which triggered the biker’s frustration. Dressed in what appeared to be an SAF uniform, the motorcyclist honked incessantly before pulling up alongside the car.

He then gestured rudely at the driver and cut in front of him, dismounting his bike. When questioned by the driver about his aggressive gestures, the motorcyclist accused him of trying to cause an accident. He went on to assert his authority as a military policeman, shouting, “Do you know who I am?”

The driver defended himself, stating that he had signaled before changing lanes and suggested involving the police if there was a real issue. The motorcyclist, seemingly unfazed, replied, “You go and call,” before riding off.

SAF’s Response

Following the incident, the SAF released a statement on their Facebook page, emphasizing the importance of maintaining high standards of behavior among their personnel. They made it clear that impersonating SAF members is a serious offense, and those found guilty will face legal consequences.
