When Norzihan Juwahib passed away in the hospital on Monday, April 22, her family faced yet another heartbreaking loss. The 57-year-old was one of two victims in a devastating six-vehicle crash at the junction of Tampines Avenue 1 and Avenue 4 that morning.

Family’s Grief

In an interview with 8world on Tuesday, Norzihan’s younger brother shared the family’s struggles. They had already mourned the loss of their father and another sister within the past year. He expressed, “My mother is incredibly resilient, but losing three family members in just one year is unimaginable.”

Norzihan was the eldest of six siblings, single, and worked at First Choice Pest Specialist. Described as quiet and independent, she was deeply devoted to her family, taking care of their 78-year-old mother who lives in Tampines. Just three months ago, she achieved her dream of owning a two-room HDB flat in Sengkang. During Hari Raya Puasa earlier this month, she hosted a celebration at her new home, bringing joy to everyone around her. Her brother recalled, “Everyone was so thrilled for her then.”

The Day of the Accident

The tragic accident occurred around 7 am. Norzihan’s colleagues called her brother to inform him she had been taken to the hospital after the crash. She was in a company van when the incident happened at Tampines Street 93. Rushing to the hospital, the family received the devastating news from the doctor that they could not save her. “That’s when we realized we had lost our sister,” he shared, overwhelmed with grief.

Despite their sorrow, he mentioned, “They are upset, but they will come to terms with it. We will let the authorities handle the rest.” He urged all motorists to drive carefully, reminding them to be patient and considerate on the road.

Another Life Lost

The accident also claimed the life of 17-year-old Afifah Munirah Muhammad Azril, a student from Temasek Junior College, who was in her father’s car. Like Norzihan, she was taken to the hospital unconscious and later passed away. A 42-year-old car driver is currently cooperating with police investigations.
