The Disappearing Delivery Driver
Shijin recently shared a concerning story on Facebook about a Lalamove delivery driver named Edmund, who picked up five high-value smartphones but never delivered them. The incident occurred around 8:00 AM, when Edmund collected several Samsung and Oppo phones, including a Samsung S22+ valued at about $1,000.
These phones were meant for customers scattered across multiple locations, including Jalan Tenteram in Toa Payoh and Woodlands. However, when Shijin tried to track the delivery, he found that the app indicated a lost connection with the driver. Feeling uneasy, he attempted to call Edmund but received no response.
Seeking Help
After realizing something was amiss, Shijin contacted Lalamove for assistance. Unfortunately, he was informed that there is a 24-hour cooling-off period in place to ensure no delivery driver has been harmed. In the meantime, the courier company offered him a mere $200 in compensation, while the total value of the stolen phones was estimated to be around $3,000.
Shijin took immediate action by filing a police report and reaching out to his customers to keep them informed. “I wanted to make sure they weren’t caught up in this mess,” he said.
