A Daily Battle

Zhao’s nightmare began when Liang started her campaign of verbal abuse. She vandalised his door and even threw liquids and rubbish at his doorstep in their HDB block along Yishun Street 22. Despite Zhao’s efforts to report these incidents to the police over 20 times, the harassment continued unabated.

In a bid to gather evidence, Zhao installed a security camera outside his home. This helped reduce the frequency of the rubbish-throwing incidents. However, Liang’s harassment did not stop there. She would hit Zhao’s metal gate and hurl vulgarities at him, causing him immense distress.

Feeling overwhelmed, Zhao sought help from psychiatrists and began attending counselling sessions. He shared how Liang’s actions have severely impacted his mental well-being and disrupted his daily life.

Community Impact

Zhao is not alone in his struggles. Other residents in the HDB block have also experienced Liang’s disruptive behaviour. One neighbour even had to stay at her mother’s house just to escape Liang’s late-night disturbances. Interestingly, it appears that Liang has specifically targeted Zhao, leaving other neighbours relatively unscathed.

When approached for comment, Liang refused to engage and instead cursed at the reporter, denying Zhao’s allegations. Her disruptive behaviour has made many residents wary, with several trying to avoid any interaction with her.

The police are currently investigating the situation, and a 49-year-old woman is cooperating with the authorities. Meanwhile, Zhao is contemplating moving out to escape the ongoing harassment.
