After a dog accident, a couple appeals to witnesses for their final farewells.

A Heartbreaking Loss: The Search for Dax

Losing a beloved pet is like losing a family member. For one couple in Singapore, the grief is palpable after their dog, Dax, was tragically killed in a hit-and-run accident. Four days have passed, and the couple is still grappling with their loss, unable to eat or sleep, and wishing they could curl up and hide from the world.

The Day Dax Disappeared

Wong, 35, and his wife, Chan, returned from lunch one Sunday to find their five-and-a-half-year-old Singapore Special missing. Dax was not known to escape often, so the couple was left in shock. Wong learned about the accident through social media, where a concerned witness, Clair Wee, shared a photo of a “big dog” running across the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) towards Tuas around 4 PM that day.

Wee and her husband had noticed Dax trying to cross the busy expressway. They called the authorities instead of taking him to the vet, unsure of his condition and wanting to avoid causing further injury. Sadly, Dax did not survive.

A Devastating Discovery

After the accident, Wong and Chan received the heartbreaking news that Dax’s body had been left at an outdoor parking lot on 100 Dairy Farm Road. When they arrived at 6:53 PM, they were devastated to find their beloved pet gone. “We were frantic with worry,” Wong shared, expressing his confusion and anger over the situation.

The couple was informed by the police that Dax’s body had been left unattended, raising questions about the handling of the situation. “It’s strange for them to leave it like that and then say they don’t know who took it,” Wong said, feeling a deep sense of loss and frustration.

Seeking Answers and Closure

Wong and Chan have been actively seeking answers, reaching out to various authorities, including NParks and their Member of Parliament, but have yet to find satisfactory help. They want to give Dax a proper farewell and are appealing to anyone who might have seen what happened to come forward.

“Every minute that passes, there’s decomposition,” Wong lamented. “We just want to know what happened to him.” They fear that Dax may have been buried or taken by wild animals, leaving them with an unsettling uncertainty.

Community Support and Hope

Despite their sorrow, the couple remains hopeful. They have shared their story on social media, hoping that someone might have information about Dax’s whereabouts. Wong has even provided his contact number, 90735073, for anyone who can assist in their search.

This tragic incident serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of pet safety and vigilance. Accidents can happen in the blink of an eye, and pet owners must always be aware of their surroundings.

Conclusion

As Wong and Chan continue their search for Dax, the community stands with them in their grief. The couple’s determination to find their beloved pet and provide him with a proper resting place is a testament to the bond they shared. We hope that they find closure soon and that Dax finds peace.
