Heartbreaking Loss: A Family Faces Double Tragedy
In a devastating turn of events, a Singaporean family is grappling with the loss of not one, but two brothers within a day. Ye Jinhe, 72, passed away at Woodlands Health Campus on June 21, followed closely by his older brother, Ye Jinchi, 77, just a day later.
A Bond That Endured
The seventh brother, aged 64, shared the deep connection between the two siblings. He recalled how their fifth brother, who was still healthy at the time, would visit Ye Jinhe at the nursing home and even help feed him. This strong bond highlights the love and care that existed within the family.
Ye Jinhe, known affectionately as the ‘Snake King’ of Woodlands, was famous for catching over 50 snakes, including pythons and cobras. Sadly, his health had been declining for the past year due to various illnesses, including heart and kidney disease. After suffering a stroke, he spent a month in a nursing home before being admitted to Woodlands Health Campus for further treatment.
Ye Jinchi had been living in a nursing home for about seven to eight years after his own stroke. He was later rushed to the same hospital for emergency care, but tragically, he did not survive.

The seventh brother, who preferred to remain unnamed, expressed his mixed emotions upon learning of his fourth brother’s passing. With the family already dealing with the funeral arrangements for their fifth brother, this additional loss was overwhelming. They decided to hold joint wakes for both brothers at the same funeral hall, as managing separate mourning spaces would have been too much to bear.
The brothers are set to be cremated on Wednesday, with the family still discussing whether to place their ashes together.
