Unlock Free Parking at Dakota Breeze on Sundays and Public Holidays for Visitors – HDB’s Latest Offer!

Free Parking for Families at Mountbatten’s New HDB Estate

Are you a driver planning to visit the new HDB estate at Mountbatten? Great news! Starting from April 7, you can park for free at the multi-storey carpark located at Block 91 Jalan Satu on Sundays and public holidays. This exciting announcement was made by Mountbatten MP Lim Biow Chuan.

Responding to Community Needs

In a recent Facebook post, Lim shared that he received numerous requests from residents of Dakota Breeze during his house visits and via emails. Many young couples living in the area often have their parents visiting on weekends. Understanding this need, Lim advocated for the Free Parking Scheme to make family visits more enjoyable without the added stress of parking fees.

Lim also reassured season parking holders that there are enough reserved lots available for them. He mentioned to Zaobao that this initiative aims to encourage family bonding, allowing loved ones to spend quality time together without worrying about parking costs.

A Closer Look at Dakota Breeze

Dakota Breeze is a Built-to-Order HDB estate that was completed in 2022. It features five 18-storey residential blocks, offering stunning views of the Geylang Park Connector and Geylang River. This estate is one of the latest to join the free parking scheme, which now includes around 1,600 HDB car parks across Singapore.

Residents Share Their Thoughts

Local resident Mr. Han shared his excitement about the new parking scheme. Previously, his parents and in-laws had to park at a nearby estate that offered free parking when they visited. With this new initiative, he believes it will be much easier for them to spend more time at his home.

Another resident, Mr. Zhang, expressed his confidence that visitors will no longer need to stress about parking fees when coming over, making family gatherings even more enjoyable.

Balancing Convenience with Sustainability

While this new scheme is a fantastic opportunity for families to bond, it’s essential to consider the environmental impact of increased car usage. With the convenience of free parking, we should also think about promoting alternative modes of transportation.

Encouraging the use of public transport or cycling can help reduce carbon emissions and contribute to a more sustainable future. Here are some ideas to consider:

– **Enhance Public Transport**: Improve the accessibility and connectivity of public transport within the estate. This could involve increasing bus frequency and adding more bus stops near residential areas.

– **Create Cycling Infrastructure**: Designate cycling lanes and establish bike-sharing facilities to make cycling a viable option for residents and visitors.

– **Awareness Campaigns**: Launch educational campaigns to inform residents about the benefits of using public transport or cycling, helping to shift mindsets away from car dependency.

By making these changes, we can ensure that the new HDB estate not only fosters family connections but also promotes a greener lifestyle for all.
